About SCORE
SCORE is a nationwide volunteer association dedicated to helping individuals intending to start a small business and those already in business desiring advice. The organization started in 1964 now has 10,000 members and 389 chapters. SCORE is a Resource partner with the U. S. Small Business Administration.
The Tulsa Chapter has about thirty active members. Member's background includes holding executive and managerial positions in manufacturing, construction, international sales, pharmacy, oil and gas, aerospace, public relations and other areas. Many have first hand experience with small business ownership. They have volunteered to share their business knowledge with others planning to start a business or needing advice on managing an existing business.
Individuals planning to start a business are the largest segment of SCORE clients. However, some clients seek advice on buying or selling a business and others want advice on managing their businesses. Businesses seeking advice from the Tulsa Chapter have varied in size from single owner proprietorships to corporations with two hundred employees.
While information on this web site answers many of the frequently asked questions about going into business, even more is available by visiting our office and talking to a SCORE counselor. Click Contact SCORE on the site menu for information on making an appointment.
There is no charge for receiving advice from a SCORE counselor. Most literature and workshops are free, but a few involve a minor charge.
